GLOBAL WARMING? OR SOMETHING ELSE?
Over the past couple of weeks, thousands upon thousands of jobs have been eliminated by the stroke of the pen on an Executive Order. While it harshly affects fracking which is the main contributor of one of the cleaner sources of fossil energy, natural gas, the order is all but shutting down the pipeline industry. The loss of jobs not only affects the energy and drilling industry, but also the manufacturers and suppliers of the parts and materials used by these industries. There are thousands upon thousands residual businesses and jobs that are negatively affected. The only industry that benefits is the Railroad industry and its prominent financial controller, Berkshire Hathaway, both of whom have made tremendous contributions to our ruling powers. The result is that the RR’s can now go back and to transporting the slower and more dangerous 78,000 gallons daily of oil, and in turn, create the need for a higher and more expensive infrastructure which our government has little money to pay for. In the meantime, our competitors like China, Iran, Russia, and the Arab States will thrive.
All of this is enacted in the name of Global Warming.
The “barometer”, or thermometer if you wish, on global warming has been has been measured since 1979. Within that time, Earth’s temperature has risen by .36 degrees in the past forty-one years, or a projected 1.08 degrees within 123 years. Of course, to project it out further and using the same measurements, in a thousand years it will increase by 10.8 degrees.
To offset the above comparison, since 1998 the Earth’s temperature has DECREASED by 1.08 degrees (ironic comparison to what is forecasted for a century down the road). This information was garnered through various search engines, and by some scientists appearing on various media outlets. Granted, there are, and will continuously be, conflicting scientific opinions on the global warming. Some of it will be determined based upon pure science while others will be based to serve the biased interests of those who are narrowly minded in their thought processes, or are being sponsored by those who are looking for a predetermined outlook.
There is one factor that must be conceded: The Earth is continuously changing and evolving. Even if all industrialization were eliminated, one million years from now (or perhaps sooner), the surface of the Earth will not be habitable for many life forms such as plant and animal life to include humans. Beyond that period, the surface will slowly become that of Mars. A supercharged solar flare can totally wipe out the ozone layer can occur at anytime from now to some eons into the future, thereby expediting the eradication of life on Earth. So, too, can the reduction of this planet’s spin rate which, in turn, will reduce the protective magnetic shield which protects life’s precious home. There are many other possible fatal factors that go beyond global warming that may lay in store for us.
With this being said, today we must not totally dismiss the concerns of global warming for they are real. However, the United States, still the leading industrialized nation, is contributing the least to the destruction of our planet’s illness. And yet, we have been contributing the most to reducing carbon emissions and other harmful byproducts. The three largest polluters of our environment are China, followed closely by India, followed by Russia (there are others, but these are the main culprits). And yet, these governments are contributing the least to the healing process, while at the same time and with the support of the United Nations, they are demanding that the United States do more to save the Earth from the destructions that these countries are creating. Something is wrong with this reasoning, and it is up to our current and future governmental administrations to stand up against these demands. Patronizing and fully cooperating is a folly that can contribute our nation’s demise. As a nation, the United States must continue to produce its finest while simultaneously maintain its low addition to harmful environment, but without making ridiculous sacrifices which wind up being a boon to the economic development of those who are doing the most harm to the world we live in.
